What Affects the Cost of Custom Sauna Design & Installation

No two saunas cost the same. A few things change the price the most:

  • Size and spot. A small indoor sauna costs less than a backyard cabin that needs its own base, power line, and weatherproofing.
  • Wood. Some woods cost more than others because of how they look, smell, and hold up.
  • Heater and controls. Electric, wood-fired, and steam heaters cost different amounts, and some homes need wiring work.
  • Glass and lights. Glass doors, glass walls, windows, and built-in lights add to the cost.
  • Building work. New bases, framing, vents, drains, and fixing old wiring all add up.
  • Permits. City permit fees change with the size of the job, and we handle all of it.

After we visit and draw the plan, you get one set price for the design, the wood, the labor, and the permits. No surprises.

What San Francisco Homeowners Say

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a custom sauna take to build?

Most home saunas take about four to eight weeks, from the final plan to your first steam. A backyard cabin takes longer. A simple indoor sauna can be faster. Either way, we give you a real timeline before we start.

Can you fit a sauna into a small or odd space?

Yes. That is the best part of going custom. We have built saunas under stairs, in basements, in closets, and on rooftops. After we visit, we will tell you what your space can hold.

Should I build it indoors or outdoors?

Both work well here. An indoor sauna is easy to use all year. An outdoor sauna feels like a getaway and goes great with a cold plunge. We will help you pick.

Do you handle the permits?

Yes, all of them. As a licensed builder, we file with the city, set up the inspections, and build to code. You never have to chase a form.

Will it make real steam?

Yes, and that is what most saunas get wrong. Good steam needs enough rocks, the right size heater, and vents in the right spots. We plan for that from the start.
